Although both engines are great, we prefer the available turbo for the boosted performance it delivers, which makes zipping along surface streets or hitting the highway a lot of fun. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on the Encore GX, but Buick also offers the 1.3L engine with all-wheel drive (AWD). This enhanced performance plus added traction and control from AWD is perfect for driving around Lansing and dealing with rough winter weather; models with AWD come with a nine-speed automatic transmission rather than the CVT. We know plenty of people who do just fine in a car with FWD, but the difference that AWD can make when confronted with snow and ice should not be overlooked.

You get a uniquely designed grille, signature LED headlamps, and more impressive styling touches that make an immediate statement and refuse to be ignored. A variety of gorgeous colors are available, including Summit White, Ebony Twilight Metallic, and the new Aquamarine Blue Metallic. Add in the available power liftgate and a panoramic moonroof, and you have a stunning SUV that you’ll love driving around Lansing each day.

Plenty of Room Inside

Although this is a subcompact SUV, you shouldn’t let that fool you into thinking the Buick Encore GX feels small or cramped in any way. Measuring about 171 inches in length and about 71 inches in width, the Encore GX can comfortably fit into pretty much any garage, and it makes it easy to find parking spots when driving. 

You still get nearly 40 inches of headroom and legroom up front, however, plus more than 38 inches of rear-seat headroom and 36 inches of legroom in the back, plus seating for up to five passengers to be quite comfortable. There’s more than 23 cu.ft. of rear cargo volume in the Encore GX and more than 50 cu.ft. of total cargo space behind the front seats, giving you plenty of room to bring everything you need with you.

Innovative Interior Features 

We’re suckers for cool tech and great comfort features in our vehicles; it’s one of the reasons we love the modern Buick lineup, since it adds so much to your time on the road. Looking at the standard features for the 2025 Encore GX, you get an 11-inch touchscreen up front with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a seven-speaker sound system and an eight-inch Driver Information Center screen. Cloth seating with leatherette trim is standard, along with a wrapped steering wheel, keyless open and start, remote start, cruise control, and much more.

If you go up to the Avenir trim, then you get to enjoy a number of upgrades and even more available options. The Encore GX Avenir features an eight-way power driver’s seat and six-way power front-passenger seat; also, both are heated—perfect for wintertime. You’ll find perforated leather-appointed seating in the Avenir, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control to keep everyone in your SUV comfortable all year round. When you add options like a rear camera mirror, wireless charging pad, and adaptive cruise control, then you have an SUV that’s remarkably fun to drive.

Stay Safe When Driving

There’s a lot we love about the 2025 Buick Encore GX, of course, but nothing else would really matter if it weren’t also incredibly safe for your family.
