Our dealership earned its place in the LaFontaine family tree in 2019, but the family business was started decades prior when Michael LaFontaine started selling Volkswagen models at a local dealership in 1966. As he honed his talents and learned the business, Michael dreamt of seeing his name on the marquee. In 1980, that dream finally became a reality.

Michael opened a Toyota dealership in Dearborn, immediately working to cultivate a family-friendly culture. His dedication to delivering a bespoke customer experience was unique in Michigan's vibrant automotive industry, earning the LaFontaine name a stellar reputation. By 1984, Michael invited his wife, Maureen, into the business when she opened a second dealership in Milford. Maureen helped solidify what we now call "The Family Deal" and our motto that "it's not just what you get, it's how you feel."

With their passion and savvy business sense, the couple established the LaFontaine Automotive Group and later welcomed their children, Ryan and Kelley, into the business. Ryan started working at the dealership at fifteen, learning every aspect of the business before being named the General Manager of the flagship dealership in Highland. Like his parents, he set his sights high and aimed to make the dealership the leading sales volume dealer in the nation. Within a decade, Ryan and the rest of the LaFontaine team achieved that incredible feat. Ryan now stands in his father's footsteps as CEO of the LaFontaine Automotive Group, with Kelley serving as Vice President.
